MOXIE Theatre, San Diego’s fearless champion of boundary-pushing theatre for the last two decades, is set to launch into 2025 with the first edition of the Lamoise New Works Festival February 15-16. This pulse-racing showcase of theatrical imagination features raw, unfiltered new works by women+ playwrights that inspire conversation and challenge the status quo.
The festival opens Saturday, February 15th at noon with a dynamic lineup of four short plays, offering audiences a vibrant showcase of diverse theatrical voices. The afternoon intensifies at 2 pm with the first workshop presentation of The Half-Sibling Play by rising powerhouse Agyeiwaa Asante, a daring exploration of family bonds and identity that pushes the boundaries of contemporary storytelling.
Sunday, February 16th the program begins at 11 am with Erin Dietsche’s electrifying Chill, a play reading that refuses to play it safe, and culminates at 2 pm with Jessica Hilt’s provocative Knots, a workshop presentation that weaves a web of complex relationships and uncomfortable truths. Light lunch will be provided on both days to patrons planning to enjoy the festival all day long, and beverages will be available for purchase.
A landmark celebration open to the public will follow Sunday’s afternoon performance, marking the launch of the Lamoise New Works Festival and honoring MOXIE’s extraordinary 20-year legacy of amplifying women+’s voices in theatre. This special reception will feature exciting announcements about upcoming programs and productions, and a surprise.
