Arts Coverage of San Diego’s Creative Industries

 

Dear Readers,

As a nonprofit dedicated to advancing San Diego’s creative industries, we feel a deep sense of responsibility to provide the necessary arts coverage, resources, networking and training to enable creatives to survive and thrive in an ever-changing world.

In 2026, we celebrate over a decade of visionary, community-building programs and our 10th Anniversary as a nonprofit. This talented team of writers have collectively won 82 Awards for Excellence in Journalism from the San Diego Press Club, published 750+ pieces of original arts journalism and promoted 3,600+ unique local, national & international cultural events in our digital magazine.

Our arts coverage is comprised of THE BUZZ, featuring artist interviews, show reviews, and insightful commentary about the San Diego region’s Arts & Culture community; ART SEEN, a series that highlights behind-the-scenes creatives from a variety of industries; CULTURE GEEK, Beth Accomando’s deep dive into San Diego’s most offbeat, genre-bending, and gloriously weird corners of film, theater, music, & art; POETIC LICENSE, featuring beautiful photo essays of artist studio visits by visual artist/curator Chi Essary; BOLD BITES, a journal of recipes and stories from our culinary community; and Vanguard Culture WEEKLY a digital magazine and curated events calendar highlighting the region’s most bold, beautiful and brilliantly weird arts & culture events.

Quality arts journalism aligns with our mission to create arts jobs, bring diverse communities together, and inspire creative collaboration. Increased coverage of San Diego’s vibrant arts and culture scene helps to inspire new generations of arts supporters and patrons, which in turn supports arts jobs across the region. We are grateful for the opportunity to share San Diego’s cultural treasures with a wider audience and could not do what we do without the tremendous support and talent of our Cultural Correspondents.
